About
Legendary tech house founder with playful, bass-heavy grooves.
Born in Cleveland and raised in Detroit, Barclay Crenshaw operates out of Los Angeles under the alias Claude VonStroke. He founded the highly influential Dirtybird Records in 2005, shaping a distinct brand of quirky, bass-heavy tech house and minimal funk. His catalog includes signature underground hits like "Deep Throat" (2005, Dirtybird) and "Who's Afraid of Detroit?" (2006, Dirtybird), alongside collaborative projects such as Get Real with Green Velvet. VonStroke has anchored major events worldwide, including his own Dirtybird Campout festival and appearances at Movement Detroit and Club Space Miami. After selling Dirtybird in 2022 and taking a brief hiatus to focus on his bass-driven Barclay Crenshaw moniker, he returned to house music in 2025 with independent releases like the "I Was the Wolf" EP and the "Life of Leisure" tour. His sound remains defined by playful vocal samples, rolling basslines, and a stripped-back, infectious groove.
