Dave 1, born David Macklovitch, is a Canadian singer, guitarist, and DJ best known as one half of the funk duo Chromeo. Raised in Montreal, he is the older brother of DJ and Fool's Gold co-founder A-Trak, with whom he plays eclectic back to back sets as The Brothers Macklovitch. Away from Chromeo's synth-funk, his DJ sets dig into disco, boogie, soulful house, and rare grooves that span eras. He has toured Chromeo's records around the world, from major festivals to late-night clubs, and holds a doctorate in French literature. As a selector he pairs a crate-digger's taste with a showman's read of the floor.
