Frankie Bones, born Frank Mitchell, is a Brooklyn DJ and producer regarded as one of the founding figures of American rave culture. After witnessing the UK acid house movement at the Energy events in 1989, he returned to New York and launched the Storm Rave parties, the early-90s Brooklyn warehouse gatherings widely credited with seeding the US rave scene. He is closely tied to the PLUR philosophy of Peace, Love, Unity and Respect that spread across dance floors worldwide. His catalog runs from the sample-heavy Bonesbreaks series to work with the Sonic Groove and Nu Groove labels, and his sets fuse breakbeat, electro and techno. He continues to tour as an elder statesman of the scene, with recent stages including Boiler Room in New York.
