Theo Parrish is an American DJ and producer who was born in Washington, D.C., raised in Chicago, Illinois, and is currently based in Detroit, Michigan. He is a central figure in deep house and a core member of the Detroit collective 3 Chairs alongside Moodymann, Rick Wilhite, and Marcellus Pittman. Parrish launched his Sound Signature imprint in 1997, which served as the home for acclaimed albums like his 2014 release "American Intelligence" and 2020 project "Wuddaji," following his 1998 debut "First Floor" on Peacefrog Records. Known for his marathon performances, he has held notable residencies at the London venue Plastic People and APT in New York, and he continues to play extended sets at modern institutions like Nowadays. His production and DJing style favors raw emotion and unconventional structures, seamlessly weaving together disco, jazz, soul, and rhythmic house grooves.
