Chontane is the project of David Natochen, a Berlin based DJ and producer with Ukrainian roots who began playing the city's clubs at nineteen. He built an early reputation through a residency at the Krach nights at Humboldthain before moving into rooms such as Tresor, RSO Berlin, Blitz, Fuse in Brussels, and Radion and BRET in Amsterdam. His sound blurs the lines between techno, breaks, and electro, pulling tribal and groovy percussion from classic 1990s and early 2000s club records into razor sharp, sound design driven productions. He has released on labels including ARTS, Rekids, Monnom Black, and SHDW and Obscure Shape's Mutual Rytm, and runs his own imprint, TANE. A trained sound designer and audio engineer, he pairs surgical studio precision with vinyl focused sets, including a broadcast for Berlin's HÖR. Chontane represents a new wave of European techno producers building an international profile on rhythmic intensity rather than melody.
